Karate is a highly physical sport based on the principles of self-control/self-discipline and using your words before resorting to acts of violence or aggression. Through the martial arts, Karate for Inner City Kids (K.I.C.K.) takes a unique and innovative approach to the age-old problem:
Children in underserved, minority populations tend to be more sedentary and have greater behavioral and academic issues in the classroom.
The participation of these children in an after-school athletic/learning program helps to raise their activity levels while nurturing their self-confidence. By providing our services for free to these participants and at a location (their own schools) that is easily accessible to them, we break down many of the barriers that often deter them from experiencing the benefits that after-school programs such as ours offer.
Did you know your contribution to K.I.C.K. will help sponsor kids who wouldn’t otherwise be able to participate in this wonderful opportunity? Your support helps K.I.C.K. kids continue to train and participate in local tournaments, bringing home top honors. We’re so proud of them! And, none of this would be possible without supporters like you!
